Denise Laura Baker

Denise Baker is a documentary and portrait photographer and photojournalist. Her work draws on influences from the many different strands of her wildly eclectic career, particularly her time as a psychologist where she interviewed and collected the stories of the people with whom she worked. Denise continues to collect and tell stories though her portrait photography, matching them with recorded or written stories and dialogue.

Denise began exhibiting her work in 2016 when two of her images were selected for the Royal Cambrian Open exhibition in Conwy. Since then she has exhibited at Bangor Arts Initiative gallery, Ty Glyndwr in Caernarfon as part of an ‘Art in the Bar’ exhibition, Pontio Bangor, LLAWN 2019, Galeri Caernarfon as part of the 2019 open exhibition and most recently Oriel Colwyn as part of a group exhibition.

Denise is in the final year of a part-time photography degree at Coleg Llandrillo and has recently completed work on an Arts Council of Wales R&D grant funded project to develop her documentary work with marginalised members of the community where she lives.
